My new island that's gonna produce more fertilizer is in the east so I'll use that for enbesa and my new world islands reducing the stress on my other island to supply old world. The routes picking it up from each are often hauling very little since it's not keeping up on the demand. I have 3 or 4 islands in old world needing fertilizer. I think I'll definitely try it with fertilizer from new to old world. I could likely eliminate some trade ships or at least cut down on reefers and switch to cargo ships. Though I'm not sure I want to mess with it now since it's currently working. But thinking about it now my south west island in old world is my production island I should utilize that as a hub for my new world old world goods. I definitely haven't planned my islands in regards to inter region trading.

Old world and new world I have islands having max storage of over 3k on some islands. In Enbesa I have each island have a max of 300 storage which I think helps. While you want to overproduce to fulfil each island you don't want to go overboard, it'll eventually correct itself when each island is fully stocked. If you only have stock of 20 at origin you can only fulfil two destinations if you're unloading 10. Also this sort of route from point 2 can take a bit to sort itself out unless you're overproducing a lot at origin. My fertilizer supply is low in new world and I'm working on that.

I originally had a fertilizer route coming from new world and delivering to each Enbesa island itself, but found it better to deliver to one island and let this route spread it out.I now setup all routes to load and unload to counter the issue, though not really necessary if you're only trading one product on a route. It unloads first then loads, so no issues. I wasn't actually sure if this would work when first tried it, but it does. Looks like this can see Taborime is loading and unloading petals, pipes and fertilizer. To resolve this I load AND unload the product where it picks up. I've had issues where you're trading multiple products and the product at receiving island fills up and that product ends up taking over your whole trade ship even though you only have it setup in one slot (I'd consider this a bug and not sure when or why it occurs - it doesn't seem to always happen).I'm actually surprised it only takes 7 minutes to cover the 5 islands. If larger variances probably indicates you don't have enough ports at one of your islands. Some little variance which could be wind speed or delays at ports. in this example I can see it's average of 7 minutes for the whole route. You can narrow your trade route selection by searching a specific item, however, if you want to look at everything again you have to select "all goods" - just removing the search isn't enough (something I just learned today). This is per ship and not per route, though in this case it is one ship so technically per route. You can see how long your trade route takes by going to storage tab and look at your trade routes and deduct the times from the time stamps to get your average.

I actually didn't like Enbesa until I started this sort of trade route though I don't plan on expanding much more there. Since Enbesa is pretty restrictive on what each island can produce (Arctic is a bit the same) have to get a little creative.

  • I'm using this example cause it's probably the most fun I've had setting up a trade route.

Note I play on Steam PC so not sure how this varies on others. I have over 200 hours in but still consider my self a newb and learning things all the time and thought I'd share somethings I've learned along my journey.Ĭouple things that I've found regarding trade routes.
